He also serves as the Associate Chief for Clinical Services in the Department of Psychiatry at MGH and the Director of Inpatient Psychiatry Research at MGH. This inpatient research has focused on assessment and treatments related to suicide risk in acutely ill psychiatric patients.
In addition to his roles as a resident and psychiatry medical student teacher, Dr. Huffman also has teaching roles in the Harvard Internal Medicine clerkship, and the MGH Social Work training program, the MGH Behavioral Medicine program. He has been awarded the MGH/McLean Plasky Teaching Award for outstanding teaching of junior residents, was twice been nominated for the Harvard Kettyle Award for outstanding medical student teaching, and received the Outstanding Research Mentor award in the MGH Psychiatry Department in 2016.
